Roosevelt Island is only a few minutes from NYC and it feels like a whole new world outside the city. A narrow island between Manhattan and Queens, you can easily see the East River from both sides (east and west) surrounded by parks. I love how quant the island feels with children everywhere running around the parks.
If anyone wants to go for a quick and cheap trip outside of NYC, I recommend that you hope on the tram or the F train and it will take you to Roosevelt Island within minutes 🙂
