Japanese cooking class!

I recently took Essentials of Japanese Cooking course at The Institute of Culinary Education (I purchased this one-time course for $115 through Course Hero).  The instructor was super nice and we had about 12 people in the class (mostly couples or parent with their child).  It was so endearing to see a dad cooking with his son. 🙂 I was slightly disappointed in that I did not get to cook ALL the meals on my own (which is probably my fault for not reading through the site carefully) but I had a great experience and I got to make about ten meals with other people 🙂

My favorite part was eating all this food together with everyone.  We even got wine and beer!  (you know food with alcohol makes me happy :))

List of food we made together:

  1. Ramen

  2. Cold Soba Noodles with Dipping Sauce

  3. Miso Soup

  4. Sushi Maki Rolls

  5. Beef Negimaki

  6. Pork Katsudon

  7. Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura

  8. Edamame

  9. Quick Turnip Pickles

  10. Steamed Dumplings with Sweet Azuki Paste and Sesame Seeds

I personally wish we had enough time to make at least one item on our own but the team effort definitely make this class special 🙂

Did you guys take a cooking class through Course Hero or any other companies before?  What were your thoughts?  Also, what’s your favorite Japanese dish?  I’d love to hear 🙂

xoxo,

J
